FRIDAY 30TH JUNE
THE ENGLISH RENAISSANCE presented by The Coupland Consort
The Old Church of St Werburgh, Wigsey Lane, Warburton, Lymm*
7.30pm. £7.00, £5.00 (concs). Refreshments available
The Coupland Consort was founded in 2004 by baritone, Marcus Farnsworth, with fellow singers Amy Wood (soprano), Rebecca Anderson (alto) and Timothy Kennedy (tenor) with the aim of blending the ensemble skills of choral singing with the drama of solo vocal performance to create a truly unique sound. Joined on this occasion by lutenist Roger Child, the programme will demonstrate the rich variety of music of the English Renaissance period, from the beautiful sacred settings of Tallis and Byrd to the exuberant secular madrigals of Morley and Tomkins.
The Old Church of St Werburgh is one of the area’s best kept secrets. Tucked away in a corner near the Warburton Toll Bridge, parts of the church date back to the eleventh century. The combination of beautiful music in such an ancient setting will be a compelling one, and, with limited seating, it would be wise to book early. Event code 04

For 30 years, Allan Taylor has been a consummate performer; a writer of literary gracefulness, whose troubadour chronicles encapsulate the realism of otherwise unsung heroes and uncharted lives. His songs are faultlessly constructed and flawlessly performed, with his instantly recognisable voice, attractively dark and mellow, accompanied by his intricately detailed yet full-sounding guitar.
Such is the quality of Allan’s songs that they have been recorded by many performers, including: Don Williams, De Danaan, Fairport Convention, The Poozies and many more. Event code 06
