L’IMAGE – The Lymm Festival photographic competition

An exhibition of the short-listed entries to the Festival Photographic competition, with six categories being represented. The subject matter for each category ranges from ‘Motion’ and ‘Lymm at Work’ to monochrome images and a junior category. There will also be a display entitled ‘Relative Images’ which will be non-competitive, showing groups of three photographs taken of family members, by at least two generations. Judging for the competition will take place on Monday 3rd July from 6.00pm

LYMM ARTISTS EXHIBITION

The Lymm Artists are pleased to support the Lymm Festival with their annual Summer Show. Individual members of the group follow successful careers as professional artists, exhibiting in many parts of the country. As always they present a diverse collection of traditional and contemporary styles in a variety of media, including oils, acrylics, watercolours, etchings and textile art. The work on show will be for sale.

An exhibition of contemporary artwork produced by a co-operative of local artists working in mixed and multi-media. Each artist has identified an individual focus and direction, but has joined the co-operative because of the exploratory and experimental nature of their work. The exhibition reflects the serious individuality of each artist, in terms of the content and innovative use of both materials and visual language.

At Cotebrook Day Centre, there is no such thing as “I can’t do that” - disablement does not get
our way. Life is about experimentation, and fun. Come and be amazed at the talent on display at
the arts and crafts exhibition of work produced by our clients. It will be inspirational!

Inspired by the BBC’s The Big Event’ when Rolf Harris recreated gigantic versions of famous paintings, Lymm Festival will be host to a huge copy of a well known work of art! Umpteen local artists will paint sections of the original and these will be assembled together at the Street Fun and Food Fest to make one spectacular, enormous painting …do you know what it is yet?

‘EMBROIDERY’ WALK
Around Lymm. 2.00pm. £2.00 includes
refreshments and a donation to charity.
A chance to admire and discuss the beautiful embroidered hangings created over the past few years by the Churches Together Needlework Group. The walk begins at St Winefride’s Roman Catholic Church, Booth’s Hill. There the Millennium Hanging will be on show. Take a gentle stroll through the park and along the canal to the Village Hall to look at the ‘Seasons’ embroidery, and then on up Eagle Brow to the Methodist Church where you can see ‘Lymm Through 2000 Years’. The walk will finish back at St
Winefride’s where there will be refreshments. The walk will be led by Marie Clowes. Event Code 23

MAPLE LODGE ART GROUP

The Maple Lodge Art Group meet regularly to work together at the Maple Lodge scout hut on Pepper Street. They evolved from a group of fellow students at Warrington Collegiate, and worked with a tutor in Lymm for some time, before becoming entirely independent. The members work in different media, and also enjoy workshops, demonstrations and visits to exhibitions or places of interest. New members are always welcome. Some work will be for sale.
SATURDAY 8TH JULY
MANCHESTER BONSAI SOCIETY ANNUAL SHOW
United Reformed Church, Brookfield Road, Lymm*
10.00am – 4.00pm. £2.00 adults, £1.00 concs. Under 12s Free. Pay on the door.

This will be a spectacular display of Bonsai – the smallest trees in the world! – by Manchester Bonsai Society, Silver Gilt medal winners at the Royal Horticultural Society Show at Tatton Park and Southport Flower Show.
Many trees of diverse species will be on show, ranging from first class specimen trees to the work of beginners. There will be demonstrations and members on hand to offer advice, especially to those who want to take up the hobby, plus a sales table where you can buy tools, equipment and material to get you started.
