The Lymm Festival Big Picture

HERE’S A CHALLENGE FOR ALL ARTISTS IN LYMM - LET’S HAVE SOME FUN!
This is a very exciting opportunity for artists of ALL abilities,
professional or amateur, young or old, for individuals, families or group entries.
You might have seen Rolf Harris on the BBC’s “The Big Event” when gigantic copies of famous paintings were created by dozens of artists. The Hans Holbein painting of Henry VIII was painted by 108 artists last September, it measured 5 metres by 10 metres and was erected in London, right outside the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square.

We are going to create our own ENORMOUS copy of a famous painting for the Lymm Festival and the 3rd Lymm Scouts will be ready and waiting to assemble
all the pieces of the jigsaw and hoist our giant version of L.S. Lowry’s painting “Village Square”
at the Food Fest on Thursday 29th June We are looking for artists to add their touch, join the festival spirit and paint just a small section of the original and help create this spectacular Lymm Festival Challenge!

  • We only need 50 artists to create a painting just over 16 ft by 12 ft and if we have 72 artists the final painting will be even bigger! Don’t be disappointed, make sure you’re one of the artists ... send your entry form in now!
  • Entries must be registered by 28th May, there will be an entry fee of £5 to cover costs and a donation to the Scouts.
  • A board will be supplied to each artist, together with a coloured copy and full instructions, then in your own time, make your copy as best you can, to match your given section from the original.
  • You can create the copy however you like, using perhaps acrylic paints, felt pens, crayons or collage, though it might be a good idea to use a waterproof medium or paint the finished work with PVA.
  • Boards and further details will be available for participants on Saturday 3rd June, between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm, from Harrison Business Supplies.*
  • Artwork MUST be completed by 26th June.*

(* Alternative arrangements can be made if absolutely necessary.)

DON’T FORGET TO COLLECT YOUR BOARD AND INSTRUCTIONS ON SATURDAY 3RD JUNE
from HARRISON BUSINESS SUPPLIES at 2 THE CROSS, LYMM
