December 2001
The 16th Lymm Dickensian Festival started at 11am on a
beautiful sunny morning to the sound of the Warrington Juvenile
Pipe Band, followed by the Cheshire Police Band.
Street
entertainers and a Punch & Judy show added to the atmosphere
to entertain the crowds. It was lovely to see so many people taking
part in the festival by dressing in Victorian outfits.
The Grand Parade started from Lymm Hotel through Lymm Village led
by the town crier, Peter Powell ending at the Church Green Public
house.
The Children's School parade fancy dress competition was judged
this year by Father Christmas he felt all the schools taking part
had done an excellent job of dressing up. However, Little Bollington
School took first prize with their display of the 'Snow Queen'.
Thanks
go to the organisers Peter Critchley & George Wealthall and
to everyone who took part and supported the event for the day.
Lymm Net would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and
a Happy New Year.
Don't forget: Carols round the Cross on Christmas
Eve at 7pm! - see yourselves on Lymm Net on Christmas Day.
