Friday 27th June 2003
Against a floral backdrop, decorated by Churches and Church organisations
of Lymm and Thelwall, the musicians of the Churches of Lymm came
together on Friday 27th June to provide praise music for voices
young & old packed into St Peters-On-The-Hill.
This was a democratic occasion in that all the hymns had been chosen
by ballot and the most popular eleven formed the material for our
BBC-like Songs of Praise. These are an expression in words and music
of the beauty, joy & hope manifested in the flower arrangements
beautifully displaying God’s creative power.
The voting resulted in the following in order of merit:
- I the Lord of Sea and Sky
- How Great Thou Art
- Shine Jesus Shine
- Make me a Channel
- Dear Lord and Father
- Thine Be The Glory
- Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer
- Be Still For The Presence of The Lord
- Great is Thy Faithfulness
- Amazing Grace
- The Day Thou Gavest
These were personally introduced, amongst others, by John Tipping,
Geoff Clayton, Sheila Woodyatt, Ian Bundy, Esme Shattock, Laura
Attwood, Julia Young and Ruth Sawyer.
The orchestra was led by Mrs. Sheila Biddle
and Fr. Michael Burgess presided.
Photographs of the Flower Festival will be shown on Lymm.net
towards the end of the week.
