REUNION 1961 -1968
It was only a few days after registering with the Friends Reunited
website that I recieved my first e-mail reply from Judy Hampson,
nee Sparrow, now living on the outskirts of New York. Thirty four
years had passed since we left school and we hadn't seen each
other for a least thirty. We quickly picked up where we had left
off and began writing regularly. Judy was also in touch with several
others from our year at Lymm - people she had corresponded with
by e-mail, so she decided to come over to England in February
this year so we could all meet up.. We arranged to meet at The
London Bridge in Stockton Heath for a quiet!! drink and chat.
I invited one or two old friends as well as my husband,Ted. Merv.
Edwards (former History and Classics Master) and his wife had
been neighbours of Judy's family, so they came along.
On 22nd February Viv. nee Lloyd, Linda nee Rose and myself set
off, a little nervously for what proved to be a truly memorable
evening. Judy had't changed a bit (except that she is now a blonde!)
and people had travelled from all over the country to be there.
The ice was soon broken and the years just seemed to melt away
as we caught up on all the news -and no one seemed a day older.
Altogether about twenty people came: Robert Higham, Peter Darby,
Janet nee Hawley,Robert Hill, Linda nee Watts, Roger Kemp, Roger
Carter, Martin Holden, Johnny Barton, Stephen Wilson and many
more.
The evening was over all too soon but we hope to meet up again
in a couple of years. If anyone who remembers us would like to
come along, please let us know.
Julie Howard nee Me Bride
