It was at this time last year that two Lymm residents spotted the opportunity of combining the sporting facilities at Lymm High School with the excellent clubhouse at Lymm Rugby Club to form a new Hockey club for the Lymm and South Warrington area.
Twelve months on and it is hard to believe the progress that has been made. The club now boasts to have its first silverware in the clubhouse having won the league. In addition, there are now two men’s teams and a ladies section starting in the 06/07 season with even greater potential for success.
Andrew Scowcroft, Chairman of the club said, “We were really excited about the prospects of creating a new club but nothing could have prepared us for the potential that we uncovered in the area”. This potential, combined with attracting well qualified coaching and committee staff soon translated into success on the pitch. In fact by the end of the season the men’s team remained unbeaten. |

One of the reasons for an optimistic view of the future is based around the partnership the club has made with local schools. Club Captain, David Antonelli added “The schools are already producing a wealth of talent in other sports so we have no doubt that integrating our training plans will create an excellent foundation for our success”.
There is a wide range of abilities in the club, from complete beginners to experienced National League players. Amongst the 4 training staff there is even a level 3 coach which is the highest qualification achievable in our sport.
All this success has not gone to the heads of the clubs management, as the main focus is still on generating an environment where individuals and families of all ages can enjoy themselves. This has been achieved through the many socials that have been organised and held at the clubs social home, Lymm Rugby Club.
