Duck Race!

Lymm Duck Race 2005

The crowds gathered around Lymm Dam and last minute duck purchasing continued until the launch at 12:10 by Peter Powell the Town Crier. Daisy Duck collected the ducks in a bag to send into the Lymm Dam. The Cheshire Fire & Rescue assisted with the hose to send the ducks on their way slowly though the Dingle. The crowds followed the ducks but because the day was calm with no wind the ducks took a leisurely swim.

Latterly they had to be assisted by Mike in the canoe making false waves! This was to help the ducks on their way to the finishing line.

At the winning line eager children and adults gathered blowing their "quackers" and cheering the ducks on.

The Duck Race is organised by Lymm Round Table. Daisy Duck alias Steve Robinson worked hard keeping the crowd amused as this year it was a rather slow race. Daisy did not have her friend Donald to help he must have been off colour with eating too many Easter eggs!

The famous Duck Race which has been meeting each Easter Monday in Lymm for the last 20 years, raising funds for various local charities.
